If you were out, copy the following notes to your journal on page 99:
U6Act4: What Happens to Light at at Surface

Three things can happen when light hits a surface:
Reflection: Bounces off at the same angle at which it hit the surface
Transmission: It can pass through the surface/
(Refraction - related to transmission - when light passes from one medium to another it changes speed and can change direction slightly)
Absorption - the atoms in matter can absorb light and change it to another form of energy (like thermal).

Also, copy the following summary to your Unit 6 Connections Pages (Page 90 and 91):

 U6Act2: Anatomy of a Wave
Simple transverse waves consist of a crest (high point) and trough (low pt.) and can be described by wavelength and amplitude.
In a longitudinal wave, compressions are a bit like the crest and rarefactions are a bit like the trough.
Block 1 or Block 6: Copy this summary as well:
U6Act4: What happens to light at a surface
There are 3(+) things that can happen when light hits a surface.
