Today we reviewed the meaning of producer, consumer and decomposer and continued the activity in which we were identifying producers, consumers and decomposers and linking them together to make food chains.  See me for a copy of the handout, complete the activity and show it to me.

Stand alone lesson 1: Trophic Levels (Say What?!?)
Key Question:L What is the meaning of “Trophic Levels?”
Producer: Organisms that make their own food, often out of CO2 and H2O using Sun’s energy.
Base of most food webs
(Producer = Autotroph)
Consumer: (Heterotroph) must consume other organisms for food.
Decomposer: (also heterotroph) break down dead organisms or animal waste for food.
Trophic level - position within food web(chain (bottom, middle or top)
